Mary Lenaburg is a Catholic blogger limping along the spiritual road somewhere between Holy Hannah and Snarky Sinner. Married twenty-seven years to her first (and only) blind date, Mary has two adult children. Jonathan is 26 and finding his way in the adult world. He is funny and crazy smart and was the BEST big brother walking this side of heaven. Courtney had significant special needs and went home to Our Lord on December 27, 2014, the Feast of John the Beloved. They were blessed to have her with them for 22 beautiful years.

In November of 2015 Mary began a new journey as the full-time Liturgy Coordinator for her home parish. Along with helping families coordinate funeral arrangements, taking care of all things liturgical within the church, she has discovered that you can go on living, even joyfully, after suffering heartbreaking loss.
When not dealing with the crisis du jour at work, Mary aims to create Parisian-inspired meals on a Walmart budget in her 1968 cramped cottage kitchen. She is proud of the fact she can sew a mostly-straight seam, knows the difference between an alternator and a carburetor, and has recently learned her green thumb is actually black.
As she seeks joy among the Pascal candles, dirty dishes, and laundry piles, she lives a vocation that is one-hundred percent God-given, grace-filled, and exhausting. She thanks God daily for the caffeine and chocolate which keeps her sanity intact and tries to live by the motto, “Be nice to your kids because one day you may need an alibi”.
If she’s not snapping photos of her daily life, she’s writing about faith, family, fashion and crazy days here at Passionate Perseverance. Mary loves to talk about her journey toward joy, and how to dress comfortably when you’re feeling blue, pink, or yellow.
She is available for speaking engagements anyplace, anywhere (including radio or podcasts), to any audience. She talks about end of life issues, dignity in death, special needs parenting, facing challenges with joy, acceptance of whatever life brings you, suffering is not evil, the joys of modern plumbing, her journey as caregiver and mother, and how to say “yes” to your vocation regardless if dirty diapers are involved or not.
Here is a recording of a recent radio appearance Mary made in 2015 on “A Seeking Heart” with Allison Gingras.
Below are the links to a series of videos Mary, her husband Jerry and their son Jonathan put together where they answer readers questions.
Mary loves to hear from her readers and can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org, through the comments on this blog or any of the social media links on the top right sidebar.
Mary believes there is joy to be found in every day this side of heaven, no matter what is happening in life. She is determined to spend the rest of her life finding it and living the crap out of it.
