I have been a fan of author Amanda Cabot’s for quite some time now so when I received her latest novel Tomorrow’s Garden to review I could not wait to get started. One of the things I love about contemporary Christian fiction is the genre’s fearlessness in taking on difficult topics. Ms. Cabot does this very well always peeling back the layers of the main characters inner struggles while keeping up the emotional tempo.
Harriet Kirk has always bee the responsible eldest daughter shouldering much of the burden of raising her three younger siblings. Her parents died in a tragic house fire the result of her fathers irresponsible drinking. Harriet carries this responsibility by giving everything she has for her siblings and denying her own needs.
Along comes an opportunity for the family to begin a new life in a new town, Ladreville, Texas where Harriet is offered a teaching position. Add one handsome former Texas Ranger Lawrence Wood, who is dealing with his own past, and we have ourselves a wonderful western romance. Ahhh…you gotta love the cowboy romance especially when the characters are able to overcome the obstacles placed before them seeking their happily ever after.
This is the third book in Cabot’s Texas Dreams series, however it reads beautifully as a stand alone. If your looking for a great story that includes a ride through Texas in the 1850’s, I think you will enjoy “Tomorrow’s Garden” from author Amanda Cabot.
