For me, Sundays are all about mass and ministry. I was blessed to hear an awesome talk on the sacraments last night. God’s gifts are there just waiting for us to avail ourselves of them. Our Catholic faith is so rich with tradition and symbolism. I hope to always be learning more and more about my Wonderful Counselor!
Love is not rude
“He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be reckoned a curse to him.” Proverbs 27:14
“The bottom line is the genuine love minds it manners.”
“There are two main reasons why people are rude: ignorance and selfishness.”
“Here are three guiding principles when it comes to practicing etiquette in your marriage:
1. Guard the Golden Rule: Treat your mate the same way you want to be treated (see Luke 6:31)
2. No double standards. Be as considerate to your spouse as you are to strangers and coworkers.
3. Honor requests. Consider what your husband or wife already asked you to do or not to do. If in doubt, then ask.”
“Ask your spouse to tell you three things that cause him or her to be uncomfortable or irritated with you. You must do so without attacking them or justifying your behavior. This is from their perspective only.”
(I highly encourage you to purchase this book. I am only giving little snippets each day. The book is so rich with scripture driven advice and counsel.)
WOW! This one may the toughest one to date. It will take an act of great humility to do this friends. Let’s hold each other in prayer throughout the day so they we have our hearts open to whatever our spouse or family member has to say to us. May we receive it with grace and patience. Remember that all of this is helping us to have better marriages and relationships with our families. I would also encourage you to spend some time in quiet reflective prayer with Our Lord today and ask Him the same questions. May we all be prepared for the answers we hear.
Blessings and Prayers,
